Thanks for your comments Nik. You’re right, the post does end on a bit of a sour note & sadly I had to update it with even worse news on the final text of the ‘Accord’.

However, I do think there is hope. A lot of hope. One look at the results of the 350.org campaign over the past two years shows that the movement for real action on climate change has come a long way very quickly and with time, effort and passion can overcome the barriers to change. Let’s hope it’s not too late.

I think you end your post on a pretty down tone, whether or not that is what you are feeling i’m not sure. Here in Copenhagen there is a vibe of reassessing strategies and rebuilding strength after the sprint that we have been through over the last week.

People are saying that new ways of protest are proving more effective – avaaz getting so many millions of signatures on the online petition and AYCC getting 3000 signatures in 8 hours and giving it to Rudd in the morning, online videos that share the reality of the conferences whilst keeping people engaged in the issues.

To look at the outcome – Copenhagen Accord, it is easy to think we were irrelevant but it is clear to me that we made the whole experience better, one of Mithra’s aims
